I don’t receive many fashion related invites (princess problems, right?), but when I got this one, I had to accept! It’s steps away from work, and I have passed by the ‘under construction’ storefront more than once. So imagine my delight when I happened upon the newly renovated Judith & Charles store at First Canadian Place!
“Nearly double in size, the new 1700 square foot location was designed to offer an enlightened shopping experience for the brand’s downtown clientele. Poised to open in September 2012, the store will welcome clients with its Fall collection of sophisticated womenswear, proudly tailored in Canada. Highlights of the renovations include soft neutral palettes to better showcase the clothing and environmentally friendly lighting to brighten the space. Most importantly, the increased square footage, from 950 sq. ft. to 1700 sq. ft., will allow for a larger selection of inventory including more colours and sizes.”
So let me give a taste of what I walked into-you’ll soon see why I’m completely *smitten* :
For Fall 2012:
“The Fall 2012 collection, attributed to the design team’s keen eye to detail, fabric and fit, features contemporary pieces to help build the working woman’s wardrobe. Championed by Creative Director and Co-Owner Judith Richardson, the collection features leather, suede, and fur, to enhance their well-known wearable looks. Inspired by the feminine silhouettes of the 1950’s, Fall 2012 evokes the warmth of fall. Rich warm earth hues grounded by off-white, play alongside one of the season’s biggest colour trends – oxblood. From tailored pants and jackets, to the perfect dress, Judith & Charles offer modern style, with proudly tailored-in-Canada designs.”
Some of my favorite pieces from Fall 2012 (and yes they are skirts-I have a “thing” for Judith & Charles skirts. Hey, at least I am admitting it!):
Impressions:
The space is beautiful. It’s wide open, welcoming, and there is room to shop, while not being overwhelming or intimidating. Clothes are showcased as entire outfits-complete with accessories (which is always SO helpful for me as I am clueless when it comes to accessorizing). When I walked into the new store, I wanted to touch everything-the looks are trendy yet sophisticated and classy. The clothes were practically screaming at me to try them on….so my future includes a trip to Judith and Charles to shop one on one with the staff. I also appreciate that the designs are Canadian-being an American living in Toronto, I am really warming up to Canadian fashion and Canadian designers.
I can’t wait to update you with some of my new pieces from Judith & Charles!
