Even though ingredients aren’t necessarily a ‘make it or break it’ item for me, I thought it would be important to post about a Canadian line of products that pays EXTRA attention to ingredients! Ella’s Botanicals is a Toronto-based all natural body care brand known for handmade clean and green products. They have recently made *key* modifications to their lotion formulas, making themselves even ‘greener’!
Ella’s Botanicals are rich, nourishing body lotions made with 100% natural ingredients for the ultimate in green body care. Lotions are made with:
-Aloe Vera: helps to stimulate cell regeneration and improve skin elasticity
-Sunflower Oil: high in vitaminds E, A and D and great for moisturizing the skin and creating a protective barrier.
-Avocado Oil: deeply penetrates the skin for superior hydration, especially after sun exposure or in the dry winter months
Lotions also contain essential oils and phthalate-free fragrances and contain no parabens or mineral oils.
Ella’s Botanicals has made some modifications to their lotion formula:
-Replacing the Phenoxyethanol and Carpyl Glycol with Lactobaccillus Ferment. Lactobaccillus is a natural preservative free of chemicals (one of the species of microorganisms used to produce fermented products such as sauerkraut and kimchi). It is 100% natural and chemical free!
-Replacing the Emulsifying wax with Polyglycreyl-3 Mathylglucose Distearate-a natural, PEG-free emulsifier (PEG=Polyethylene Glycol). It is biodegradable and made from glycerin and plant fatty acids. This ingredient is accepted under the natural and organic standards Ecocert.
Lotions are available in the following scents:
-Lavender Rose
-My Darling Clementine
-Yummy Almond
-Lemon Meringue
These lotions retail for $15.99 CAD (8 oz) and $24.99 CAD (16 oz). That’s probably a bit higher than a ‘normal’ drugstore body lotion but look at what you get:
-Contains no parabens
-Contains no chemical preservatives or chemical emulsifiers
-Contains no PEG ingredients
-Contains therapeutic grade essential oils
-Contains phthalate-free fragrances
-Gluten free, cruelty free and vegan
-100% Natural
I have tried both My Darling Clementine AND Lemon Meringue and am loving both the scents. Like I said before, the ingredients (or lack of harmful ingredients) aren’t necessarily a “make or break” for me but since I AM a sucker for scent/fragrance, I’m sold on these. The ‘natural-ness’ of these products is the icing on the cake for me!
