It’s the (old) new fragrance- Avon’s Sweet Honesty

*I bought this with my own money because I’m a real person and can relate to you.  Please be wary of people who only review or speak about products that they receive for free!*

I’m going to ask everyone a question.  What was your favorite scent growing up? I mean your favorite….not necessarily one that you went through phases with. I mean THE fragrance.

Listen & follow: lady and the truck

no one has paid me or gifted me (bribed) to say any of what is below.

I have been following Lindsey a.k.a. Lady & The Truck for some time.  I originally stumbled upon her on Youtube back when I was still making videos.  She is one of the few people that I actually still follow/listen to/watch.  Yes, she does drive an 18-wheeler, that’s her job.

Life without hair extensions-so far I’m making it!

When I have the $$$, I like to invest in hair extensions. I have tried different methods and brands-Keratin bonds, micro-beads, and most recently, tape-in extensions. I tend to wear them for between 3-6 months, and then give myself a break.

So I’m in a break period now-which is not the norm for me. Normally I wear extensions in the fall, winter, and spring. That’s mainly because of the extra weight and extra heat that they provide. This time around, I got them in spring and wore them all through summer (mistake-so hot). I was bracing myself for the worst during removal. I was surprised to find my hair in great condition. I’m even more surprised to find myself absolutely loving my hair sans extensions. I’m so pleased with everything about it and have been taking extra care ever since.

The number one thing that I love is being able to run my fingers through MY hair. I’m also able to put my hair up, it’s versatile. While I am missing the length, that’s really the only thing. I’m taking extra care with products, only washing my hair when necessary and heat styling sparingly.

I’m sure I will get hair extensions again, but I can tell you right now, It’s not going to be soon. I may do something different with my colour but right now I’m content. And I feel good about that!

Autumn where I live…

This post is not complicated.  It’s pictures, folks.

Several people that I have known throughout the years have moved to an area of the country and/or world where they don’t experience Autumn.  I took some photos at a park where I walk my dogs recently and wanted to share them with you.  Enjoy!

Items I’m thinking about from the Avon Catalog-Campaign 23 & 24 (just a sneak peek of 24)

*no one paid me to say anything about this and I haven’t bought these items-yet. If I do, it will be with my own funds*

I go back and forth with my feelings about Avon….in today’s ‘now’ generation, it’s not exactly convenient to wait for things. That sounds entitled because it is. Maybe I should be ashamed of myself-and maybe I am. Regardless, there are some things that Avon just does well. My local representative dropped off the latest campaign (and I took a sneak peek of the next one) and as I thumb through, here are some items I am keeping my eye on.

I took Coty Airspun Powder for granted (and regret it)-it’s still fantastic!

*No one sent this to me or gave me any money to write about it. Just thought you should know.*

One of my neighbors (neighbours if you’re Canadian) throws 2 parties a year. A summer BBQ and a Christmas party. Since it’s not Christmas yet (although most retail stores have their displays set up already), I’m going to mention the summer BBQ. Surprisingly or not if you know me, this is not going to be about the food, but about the attendees, which are mostly other neighbors. I’ve seen this one woman at both parties before but never had too much time to talk to her. This time, she sat next to me and we had some wonderful conversation. I couldn’t help but notice that she was wearing one of those ‘blurring’ powders –and I noticed it because it had a lot of different ‘reflective’ type particles on it. Having been in the beauty world for so many years, I noticed right away. I was tempted to ask her what powder it was, but didn’t have the opportunity because there were too many people around. Honestly, it was the perfect powder to be photographed in. Yes, I’ll definitely be asking her at the Christmas party.

Status update. It’s a long one

The title of this post is a common subject line I have used in my past 4 jobs. I tend to use it when I need an update on the status of a project (mind blown right?). It’s also the subject line used when I haven’t gotten an answer on the status of a project and is my ‘last-ditch’ attempt at nicely asking before a phone call or in-person visit. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not intimidating or not to be reckoned with-but if I need an update, I need one.

You’re right, I haven’t been here for a while…..and now I’m going to send you somewhere else….

Geez that’s just about as click-baity as you can get isn’t it.

Seriously though….I’ve been on the blog less and less. I’m toying with a rebrand-which is a lot of effort but at this point, necessary and (probably) worth it.  Any constructive feedback is necessary.  Emphasis on the word constructive.

In the meantime, here are the best places to find me.

Switching up my complexion products-for spring?

Honestly.  I’m sitting here typing out a post as an ice storm continues to plow down across Ontario.  In April.  The weather report? Not much better to be honest-rain, rain, rain.  Don’t get me wrong, I know the phrase “April Showers bring May flowers” but this has just gone on and on.  I’m over it.  I want to wear shoes instead of boots, and a lighter coat.  I say all this knowing that in May I’ll be saying that it’s too warm.

Review:Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Hydrating Prime and Refresh Mist

I have combination skin (oily in the T-zone, normal everywhere else) that likes to throw me curve balls throughout the year as the seasons change.  Since winter has decided to extend into April (as I write this, the snowflakes are coming down), I need to stay on top of moisturizing my face (which is always somewhat exposed on my commute/walk into work).  Priming my T-zone area is pretty much a given in my case, but I frequently change primers-depending on what I’m doing.  If I have an event, I will often use a silicone based primer (the ones with the jelly-like texture).  For everyday, I tend to use a ‘lighter’ primer, and sometimes I’ll even use 2-one pore minimizer on my T-zone, and a hydrating primer everywhere else.  I have tried the Too Faced Hangover Rx primer which is …..okay.  It’s expensive.  I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this Hard Candy Sheer Envy Coconut Hydrating Prime and Refresh Mist is their ‘response’ to Too Faced Hangover Rx.  I’ve been using this for several months and have an opinion and some thoughts, which you’re more than welcome to read below.  By the way, don’t write off Hard Candy products because they are sold in Walmart-the brand has some real ‘winners.’
