So I have to tell you….I am a minority. Not a visible one….but as you will discover, quite a minority in the city of Toronto anyhow.
Well…..that’s it. There’s no turning back now
Why go back now, you ask? Honestly, this isn’t a ‘new’ situation for me!
Don’t think I’m bragging, but school has never been a problem for me. I’ve always had above average marks, but for some reason after high school I lost my way. I tried community college and hated it, so I worked full time. By age 28, I had enough of that.
I took a huge step out of my ‘box’ and joined the military. I won’t get into the stories now but I made it through four years (think Private Benjamin). I emerged a stronger, more focused ADULT. My parting gift from the military was a four year education, for which I am forever grateful! Graduation was a defining moment for me!
So why am I taking you back to my glory days? Well, going back to school at 31 years old was NOT easy-especially when you are living on campus! There are more stories, laughter, tears, and memories than I can count.
My point is….I pressed on then, and I’ll press on NOW-and most likely enjoy every minute of it!
As I look at my receipt from Ryerson, I am reminded of this same moment several years back….when I was looking at my invoice from the University at Buffalo.
It’s a new page, and a new chapter for me-and I can’t wait! Project Management, here I come!
p.s. Do I use too many …..?
I am sitting on the couch with my other half watching my daily installation of Golden Girls (love that show and have requested the Box Set for the past 2 Christmases), and Dorothy brought up Snickerdoodles. It was some kind of snarky response to Rose. So other half remarks, “What are Snickerdoodles?”
I have been eye-ing the new fall fashion already-especially the denim. Who doesn’t want a new pair of jeans? I went into my closest looking for my latest favorite pair (Banana Republic bootcut that are just perfect-or so I think!), and came out with….. a LOT of denim!!! Take a look:
Ahhhhh Monday you always come too soon, too soon! Morning routines….got one? Here’s mine!
My Blackberry Zen chimes every weekday morning at 5:30. After a couple of (well-deserved) snoozes, I arise….
One of the main things on my ‘to-do’ list today was to get a new eyeshadow primer. My current fave, Naked Beauty by Smashbox was sold out at my local Shopper’s Drug Mart. I had every intention of trekking to Sephora to get a new one. That is, until I decided to organize my makeup bags, and YES I said BAGS (plural).
Well of course, I have figured out that I have a lot of makeup-and it’s great stuff! I have selected the everyday products that I use for work. It was a lot more than I thought! Take a peek-I have numbered it all and will talk about it that way!
Hey everybody gets hungry right? Even me! I have walked by this place 123425456976 times of course but have never stopped in! This morning, Chi-Ko-Roo won the draw (or the rock-paper-scissors, whichever you fancy). Did some quick Internet researching for reviews (this place doesn’t have a website) and was a bit skeptical. Wanting to be true to my ‘I’ll try anything once’ mentality, I took the risk.
Here’s the inside…..after arriving just past 10am:
Not too shabby, right? Perhaps because this is a former Il Fornello? Whatever the case, our friendly (and foreign) waiter, quickly brought 2 cups of coffee (smart man) and took our order. The food came 5 minutes later, and yes I time those types of things! This may be due to myself and beau being the only people there-but awesome nonetheless!
Here is the food:
Great food….quick service, and a fancy fruit shish to finish it off! Sounds good to me! Normally, a Sunday morning (or late morning meal) includes several mimosas but since I have training with George this afternoon (you will meet him soon), I decided against that….
Yes I will return to Chi-Ko-Roo!
p.s. If you are admiring my manicure (and you should be), you can thank Nails by Natalie. You will meet her soon too!
