Weekend Warrior in full effect!

I have never considered myself a ‘weekend warrior’-until the past 2 weekends.

What exactly does that mean anyway?  In my military days, a weekend warrior was a reservist that had duty for one weekend a month.  Wikipedia defines it as being the name of several songs on several different albums.  I think about it differently….a weekend warrior is someone who is running around on the weekends, out of bed at 8am or earlier, getting the laundry done, cooking up a storm, assembling furniture!  Even though I didn’t do all of that this weekend, I came close….

This semester,  I (rightfully) decided to not take a University class.  I had a lot of reasons for this but the most important reason is that I am working on an event for my company that starts in June.  I am sure I could’ve taken a class (I believe they end in April/May) but I want to focus on this task-because let’s face it….if I don’t have a job, I can’t take classes anyway!  Logical, yes?

I thought not having the stress of the class would really open things up for me-to explore my creative side, get back into dance.  Wrong.

It’s made me work more to fill the void that the class would fill!  Does this make sense? No, not really.   What kind of work you ask?  Well, as much as I abhor home renovation and organizing, that’s exactly what I have been doing.   I have also been doing some work on the weekends (for my job) as I have been given extra responsibilities (some of which may not belong to me-but that is another post for another time).

Happily, my living space is transforming into something I can actually call home.  I posted about how it USED to look in an earlier post (please don’t ask me to link it-it would make me REALLY happy if you would go back and read through. Act like you’re interested. Comment!)  So in addition to the entertainment center, my rear end was at Walmart at 8:30 am in this frigid weather.  Behold, the fruits of my labor:

new rug!!

and let’s not forget my workstation-which I have been spending a lot of time with lately:

look at all the stuff on there-I will be posting about some of it momentarily

One observation-the Walmart at Dufferin mall is laid out horribly.  They need someone to go in there and rearrange the entire store.  Nothing is where you would think it would be!  Fortunately, we were in and out of there in an hour-despite our less than brilliant cashier.

Weekends are also the time when I cook.  A lot.  This weekend, I made my WW creamy tomato sauce (a must try-and yes I will give out the recipe), WW Garden Vegetable Soup (zero points so I inhale that), turkey meatballs, roasted chicken and fennel, and of course, a loaf of fresh bread.  I am tempted to do another loaf for the work crew-but still on the fence about it.  After all, one of my coworkers (Cherry) DID give me that bread maker.

This weekend was especially great because I got to see @JennMUA.  She had a fabulous blog sale recently and my 90 wpm typing fingers snagged a lot of great stuff.  If you haven’t checked out her blog, you should!  I would also like to point out that I have never seen this girl look anything less than fabulous.  She is so put together!

I would like to say that I may actually go on a ‘no-buy’ after this:

NYX lipstick-I am anxious to try electra with my peacocky lipglass over it!

MAC crushes- Secret on left, Delicate on right...Secret reminds me of a product I used in Korea.

Blushes and a face atelier treat! Daft Pink is most likely going to be my "go-to"

Cargo glosses-awesome!

It was so nice to see Jenn-I hardly ever get to see any TBB-ers…..

The other half scored big points with me this weekend. Here’s why:

<3 this game!

Anyone who knows me has to agree that this game screams, “MEREDITH!”  It’s imaginative and quirky….I love it.  I don’t even get mad when I lose-it’s so darn cute!  Of course I made my sack person pink with blonde hair and a black and white polka dot dress with a pink belt.  I am curious whether they make this for PSP-I would buy a PSP just to play this game.

The only downer to this weekend is that I feel some congestion in my chest….and I hope I am not coming down with something.  Even though the CEO of our company has a ‘Stay the hell home if you’re sick’ policy, there are still germ-infested walking bacteria traps schlepping themselves into work.  Ugh.  So to combat that, I bought this:

Not a huge fan of OTC cold meds but.....

Between the 2 of these products, I should be able to skirt whatever sickness comes my way….I want to stay well!  And to the sick people-bugger off!  Go home!

I am headed into Monday full steam ahead…ready to move some mountains err, dirt piles tomorrow!

How was your weekend?

One other question for my fellow bloggers-as you can see, I obviously need a new camera.  I have been using the same one since 2002.  Any suggestions? Not looking to spend more than ~$400.00. Thanks in advance!

I just got a Nikon Cool Pix S70 that I like a lot. It’s a touch screen rather than little dials so I find it easier though it is easy to make a mistake and change the screen. I got it on sale from $300 down to $160.

Marcia I just looked at a Nikon today at Walmart….the camera I have now is a Canon.

What do you like best/worst about the Nikon? Is it really user-friendly?

I love it! You run a busy schedule just like me. WW really works I have a ton of great recipes. Nikon is a really good brand for a camera. I have a kodak but really want the $3000.00 Nikon…So I’ll just keep my kodak. Thank you for keeping your old friends updated.
