CND Vinylux-the Forbidden collection

*This post contains products sent for review.  I like to state this first out of respect for my readers. This does not change my opinion of the products.*

Nail polish and I do not get along and haven’t for a long time.  It baffles me to this day how anyone can keep a manicure past 1 hour because I sure can’t.  I don’t consider myself ‘rough’ on my nails either.

I was excited to try CND’s Vinylux, which boasts an impressive one week long wear.

When applied with CND Vinylux Topcoat, Vinylux shades lasts for a week on the nails. Vinylux is a simple two step process that requires no base coat and is applied like regular polish. First, apply 2 layers of colour then apply Vinylux Topcoat. With natural light exposure the Vinylux Topcoat gets more durable resulting in a week long manicure.

Directions:

Clean nails with ScrubFresh (which I don’t have but did scrub my nails and wipe them dry thoroughly).

Apply 2 coats of Vinylux Weekly Polish.

Finish with 1 coat of weekly top coat.

WELL.

This did not work for me as instructed…..and I found out that I was not the only person who had this issue.

check this post out for some up close photos.

I wanted this to work so badly…..because let’s face it, Shellac, Artistic, Gelish is not the kindest on the wallet.

After some googling, I discovered that a base coat helps the Vinylux last longer but not necessarily holding up to the week long wear claim on the package.  I like this set but not enough to go back and buy full size bottles.  I’m disappointed!!!

Anyone else have a different experience? Does your Vinylux last? Is it just a base coat? What am I doing incorrectly?

Never tried these and now I never will, to this day I have not found a better nail polish than the Rimmel ones 🙂

@Denyse I have not tried the Rimmel polish. I like the Revlon polishes and the Sally Hansen and essence makes some good ones. I’m just rough on my nails.

I thought I was the only one who had this issue. I thought maybe it was because I wasn’t applying it enough or putting on a good top coat…..Horrid pics on that site..lol!!!!!

I have done some ‘research’ and it appears that a base coat is needed. However, I find my application STILL does not last a week. I think that I’m one of those people that needs to stick to gel manicures!

Gels and shellacs wreck my nails! Probably because when one starts to come off I pick at them and then peel them all off without soaking them off properly. I know… my bad! I had this polish applied for a manicure a few weeks ago. It was “ok” nothing to write home about, as they say. I’ve heard these can be very hard on your nails too! I found the colour selection lacking. Perhaps it was just the selection at that salon, but there were way more OPI colours.

I’ve never done this on my own as in a home manicure. I have had the CND polish done at a salon and it lasted 3 weeks. The process for removal was also done at the salon so I see this product more as one I would pay to use vs. buying it and doing it at home.

Vinylux lasts me anywhere from 6-9 days and I do it myself at home. I love it sooo much because it’s the only polish that lasts that long on me. Other polishes normally chip within a day! I did notice though that when I started prepping my nails with cnd’s scrub fresh instead of alcohol, they lasted about 2-3 days longer bringing me up to that 6-9 day range. Not sure why it made such a difference but I make sure to always scrub fresh now!

@Lorraine I’ve found that people who like Vinylux use the scrubfresh. I wonder what is in the scrubfresh that makes Vinylux work that much better? Thanks for your comment….if I can find scrubfresh, maybe I will give it another go.
