Radford (really does) love skin! My Custom Facial with Wand treatment

*I paid for this treatment myself*

I knew I was overdue for my facial when I could actually feel the texture on my face changing.  I knew I needed to get my face in better shape so short of going to home depot, I turned to one of the best skincare gurus in the business, Vee Mistry. I had the pleasure of seeing her (on my own dime) at Victoria Radford, on Avenue Road.  Spoiler alert:  and one thing’s for sure…..ever since I arrived back at home, I have been contemplating changing my skin care routine, and I’m putting their number into my contacts.

The clinic is very tidy, not huge & spacious, but efficient-it’s used wisely and is divided into several spaces. Vee was kind enough to take me on a tour!  Upon entry, there is the reception area, and the boutique (tons of photos here), up a few stairs to the left are the skin care rooms, then to the right is the eyelash extension area and 2 lovely massage chairs where Wand facials are given.  The upper level is for hair and makeup.

After a consultation with Vee, she recommended the Custom Facial (which I had already booked) with the Wand-she had a bit of time before her next client.

From victoriaradford.com:

Our award winning customized facial can be suited to any skin type – including oily, dehydrated, sensitive, aging, or combination. A deep cleanse and tone is followed by a professional peel to polish away impurities and prepare the skin for extractions. The Facial provides visible, immediate and long-lasting results.

The Rezenerate Facial (Wand) is designed for all skin types to reduce the signs of aging and acne. It improves skin tone and texture, helps to remove blemishes, and whitens sunspots. In just 45 minutes a smoother, more radiant and even toned skin will appear.

Honestly, I would’ve been perfectly fine with my facial-it was wonderful and the addition of organic ingredients (including some organic coconut that Victoria herself sourced specifically for her treatments) was wonderful.  I love when a peel is included within a facial-at my age (40 something), I need that extra ‘oomph’ to really clean my face and lift the dead skin.

And then the WAND.  How do I describe this other than to say,  I adore this piece of wizardry!  I had to google this device because I want you to see it (and because I can’t explain it well)

The Rezenerate Facials™ use our proprietary handheld cosmetic tool (The Rezenerate Wand™) with an array of pyramid-like nano-structures, each point on the array having a diameter less than 1/3 that of a single strand of human hair. It is manufactured from mono-crystalline silicon utilizing advanced semiconductor fabrication technology and it is this innovation that allows for the precise and pain free conditioning of the skin. Additionally, the pyramid structures engage the body’s natural restorative properties stimulating cell repair and regeneration.

This is the Wand:

The top of the device that goes on  your skin looks like this:

However, I must say…..this device feels like a Clarisonic on a ‘stronger’ setting going over your skin but without the ‘brush-burn.’   It doesn’t hurt and isn’t painful but you feel it.  Here’s a close-up taking from a demonstration of a video where this device is run over a balloon filled with water….this is that little square in the photo above.

The basic premise here (according to what I’ve read) is that this device creates microscopic permeations on  the skin, therefore encouraging the skin to regenerate and turn over cells. This leads to an immediate plumpness of the skin for a short term benefit and also allows for greater absorption of nutrients thereby hydrating and re-energizing your skin’s natural beauty over the long term.

I hadn’t seen the device prior to it being used on my face and afterwards, I did ask to see it and was shocked.  The way it feels as I mentioned earlier, is like a ‘brush’-but when I look at it, it’s just a little tiny chip on top of this wand.  FYI, the heads to the wand device are disposed of after each client.

Post facial, I chatted a bit with Vee and the staff and took a good look at the retail.  In addition to BioEffect and Elta MD, Victoria Radford has her own skincare line and cosmetics line as well as some boutique type items (jewelry), makeup brushes, and a natural deodorant (which I purchased and am very excited about).

Also exciting were my results….while I can’t attribute my results entirely to the facial or to the Rezenerate Wand, I will say that I saw SIGNIFICANT results in my skin tone, and a big improvement in brightness.  This facial also brought to the surface a lot more of my hyper-pigmentation (from my years as a slave to tanning beds-boy do I regret that).  I was pleasantly surprised.

Next day results from my facial-yes I have mascara on

I need to go back.  I think when I call to schedule my next appointment I am going to book a Wand treatment.  I need to investigate this further.  Vee also recommended the Medical Peels which I am contemplating but worried about doing in the summer (being exposed to sun and the UV rays-I normally do my peel treatments in the fall/winter).  Either way, I had a very good experience and loved my results.

That Wand though-still can’t fully wrap my head around it……Vee told me “Just enjoy your results.”  I shall.Really loving them actually.
