My face.  I always think it ‘needs work.’  Don’t get me wrong, I do indulge in Instagram filters and love the Snapchat filters, but walking around everyday? Can’t use those digital ‘enhancements.’  In addition to great skincare (which I really need to get around to posting about since SO MUCH has changed), I make use of colour correction.  These new products from Rodial have really upped my ‘flawless, filter-esque’ appearance.

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana powder

This subtle formula corrects surface redness and pink undertones while neutralizing blue under-eye circles.  This mattifying powder can both set your makeup and contour your face  (by baking your face).  It can be applied after foundation to prevent it from setting into fine lines.  It also helps to reduce the appearance of an oily complexion.  The lightweight texture stays true all day long without caking or looking heavy.

Application: Apply under your eyes, around your T-zone, on the bridge of your nose and on your chin.  If you want to maximize the highlighting effect, leave the powder on your skin for about 10 minutes (to set) and then brush away excess.

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contour Powder DARK

So this product is a favourite of Kim Kardashian -like it or not , you can’t deny her face is nearly always perfection.   This powder works to sculpt and define the facial contours.  This new DARK shade has a red undertone and works well for dark skin tones.

Application:  Apply along cheekbones and jaw line to contour and define areas of the face.  Build colour to desired contour effect.

Rodial liquid liner

This is Rodial’s first ever liquid liner, a long wearing intense black liquid liner with a silky finish.  A precise tip allows the liner to glide smoothly for long-wearing definition.

Benefits:

  • Quick drying formula
  • Water-resistant and long lasting
  • precise tip glides smoothly and effortlessly
  • Intense colour payoff
  • Silky finish

Application:  Starting from inner corner of eye, draw a fine line as close as possible to the lash line.  Look straight into the mirror.  Keep drawing a thin line until two thirds of the way across, then start to thicken the line, sweeping the pen up and out.

Thoughts:

Firstly…..Rodial liquid liner, where have you been all my life?  Especially the tips listed?  I keep the packaging so I could remind myself of all of them as lining my eyes with liquid liner has been a BIG HURDLE for me for years.  I do like this liner quite a bit and will recommend it.  If you already have a favourite liquid liner, awesome-but if you are on the fence, give this one a GO!!!

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana powder-it took me some time to get used to, especially since I am so incredibly fair-skinned.  The first time I used it, I put WAY too much under my eyes.  Well now I know, and knowing is half the battle.  Again, my thanks to Rodial who provides application tips-I use this to highlight and very sparingly under my eyes.  I do possess the blue-ish under eye circles, so this cancels those out well.  Fellow fair skinned people-you CAN use banana powder, you just have to use it sparingly, and in the right places.  Also, this is a pressed powder-many banana powders are loose (Ben Nye is the brand that comes to mind) but don’t let that sway you, this is an easy pick up with the proper powder brush.  In addition, it can go in your purse as it has a great mirror within the compact.

Instagram Compact Deluxe Contour Powder DARK-I don’t not like this product, but since I am so fair, this requires a LIGHT touch. I was worried about this-especially when I read that it has a RED undertone.  I have heard of a powder here and there having a red undertone-it’s almost like an urban legend, but this is the first one I’ve held in my hand.  Despite the red, I don’t find this powder incredibly warm, and CAN use this for a light contour. As winter approaches, I don’t see myself using this outside of immediately after my spray tans, but if you have a medium to medium dark skin tone, I’d grab this or at least try it.

Honestly this is my first time using Rodial cosmetics (I have used Nip & Fab body care products before with decent results) and I am pleasantly surprised.  They aren’t drugstore prices but they give a great finish to the skin and actually produce the results that they say they will.  In addition, I love the texture, no chalk & powder here.  If you can find Rodial in  your area I recommend giving them a swatch!

That packaging is so beautiful – I’m big on all things leather and pleather. I got the contour powder and I love it, but I see what you mean when you say the Dark powder requires a light touch…I mean, I’m so pale, I can’t see how I’d make this work…but generally Rodial products are 10/10.
