OGX Candy Gumdrop Shampoo & Conditioner-worth the hype?

Kandee Johnson is THE OG of Youtube for beauty.  I’ve been following her on social media for so many years, I don’t care to admit it (as it will be easy to determine my exact age).  I wasn’t betting on any of my local stores in the GTA ( greater Toronto area) having her limited edition OGX Shampoo & Conditioners so when I was in the U.S.A. recently, I picked up the OGX Candy Gumdrop Shampoo & Conditioner.  Just in case you didn’t get the ‘gist’ of that last sentence, I paid for these with my own $$$.

Thoughts:

Sounds dreamy doesn’t it?  Well I have to give it Kandee, I love the scent. I wouldn’t necessarily call this ‘gumdrop’ but it is definitely candy scented. I don’t smell any vanilla. My issue(s) begin with the shampoo. The texture is gel-ish.  The shampoo doesn’t say that it’s sulfate free, so I did expect lather.  I didn’t get any and had to use SO much shampoo to cover my head (my hair is shoulder length).  The shampoo does rinse clean but no different from any other shampoo.

The conditioner….it’s just meh for me. It’s not a deep conditioner by any means, it is a very LIGHT conditioner.  After using the conditioner, I still had to use a detangler and a hydrating product.

If you are a huge Kandee-fan, then I would go for these sets.  If not, your money will be better spent on any other drug store brand shampoo & conditioner.  Definitely overhyped.
