#Influenster Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum-gift idea!

viva-la-juicy-parfum

I remember getting this perfume waaaaaaaayyyyyy back when Eaton Centre had a Juicy Couture store.  That’s a significant amount of time ago-and I haven’t seen anyone wearing the Juicy Couture tracksuit of yesteryear (that may be a good thing).  A big thanks to Influenster for sending me the Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum.

Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect top coat-my thoughts

Seche Vive review

Well. I went and did it.  Removed the gel from my nails that I had been wearing on and off (mostly on) for the past 3 years.  It’s gone.  And my nails have been naked now for nearly 3 months.  Gosh when I think of it-it doesn’t even sound like it’s describing me.  For now, its my reality….and I’ve decided I’m going to be okay with it. So what to do in the meantime?  Well I’ve been pairing the Christian Dior Instant French Manicure effect with the Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect top coat and it’s been going swell.

#Ageless Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel

*I received this product for review

After I hit age 40 (several years ago), I noticed that my undereye area required extra attention.  I used to be able to get away with a moisturizer-the same one that I used on my face.  Now, I notice that if I don’t apply a separate eye product, that my undereye appears incredibly dry and sometimes gets dark.

My main ‘issue’ with eye products is that they are either too rich for daytime use ( I do use a rich eye cream at night) , or not hydrating enough.  Since my skin is combination (with an INCREDIBLY oily T-zone), I don’t want a very rich eye product that is going to interfere with my face and make me look greasy.

Because you (may) want to know…..what I’ve been up to.

I have to say my original ‘goal’ of blogging twice a week has fallen by the wayside.  This is bittersweet to me as I feel like I may be growing out of this blog and may either totally revamp it, start another, or quit blogging all together.  So many sponsored posts with the title ‘Blogs are dead’ keep showing up in my feeds and on my timelines.  I’m wondering if this is universally directed…..don’t get me wrong, I like blogging.  I just think that there are other areas where I want to focus my efforts at the moment (career, lifestyle, family-not in that order).

The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion review

My summer foundation- The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion

*I bought this with my own money*

Finding a foundation in the summer is a seasonal struggle for me.  I have somewhat normal skin, with an incredibly oily T-zone.  Blotting papers are a must.  I want something that covers in that ‘just right’ kind of way-no cakeface, but no ‘hey why is your face all splotchy?’ either.  Any idea how challenging that is?  So while I was in the Face Shop last month (there for blotting papers by the way), I came across this cushion foundation.  I’m ALWAYS skeptical about cushions-because for the most part, they really are for hydration not for high coverage.  But I wanted to see how this Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion worked -as it claims it controls ‘sebum’, which is a fancy and nice word for ‘oily.’  So into my bag it went. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now and have formed an opinion.  It’s favorable.

LiveClean sunscreens-for the first day of summer!

*I received these products for review-opinions and thoughts are mine all mine.

I am so.over.dreary.weather. Who’s with me?

While my favorite season is officially fall, I am in need of some sunshine.  All the vitamin D supplementation in the world just cannot compare.  I’m hoping to use this sunscreen when spring finally decides to roll around….and at this point I think Mother Nature will skip it and full steam ahead to summer.  Which at this point, is fine with me.  Today was sunny, which made me smile.  I’m hoping this is the new trend because after all, it actually IS the first day of summer.   While I do embrace my pale, when I’m outdoors or away on a ‘cottage weekend’, I apply sun protection.  Liberally.

Alba Botanica-for when summer finally decides to arrive in Ontario!

I received these products for review.

I feel like I’m going through some type of cruel Mother Nature deja vu.  Last year around this time, my parents were preparing to visit me for the very first time since I moved here and I was looking forward to some fairly decent (and sunny) weather.  What ended up happening was cold, rainy days and even a brief period of snow.  Fast forward to today-here I sit, looking out the window with my winter boots still sitting by the door.  My gosh-it’s MAY-the greenery that confidently pushed out of the ground is now shivering and trying to withstand the wind.

Nevertheless, warmer days are to come-so why not be prepared?  Fair skinned or not, the sun’s rays are NO JOKE.  Alba Botanica has got your largest organ (your skin) covered with two new (and one not-so-new) sun care products.

This sunscreen absorbs quickly and is gentle on kids’ skin.  As with the SPORT spray, this broad spectrum UVA and UVB sunscreen is eco-friendly, air-powered and free of chemical propellants.  and water resistant.  MSRP $16.99 CAD

The alba BOTANICA Facial Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40 isn’t new-but my #protip is DO NOT FORGET YOUR FACE THIS SUMMER.

This gentle & effective broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection is fast absorbing and won’t clog pores. Botanicals, like Aloe Vera, Ginseng, Lavender, and Calendula, hydrate and nourish delicate facial skin. MSRP $9.99 CAD

So let’s all put our most positive thoughts together and collectively bring on the warm & sunny days! Don’t forget your SPF!

My picks for great lips! Best lip scrubs & lip prep products for mature lips

I notice that as I age, there are ‘changes’ in my skin.  Gravity starts to take its tool, my skin is thinner in some places than others and my lips….oh my lips.  My top lip is noticeably disappearing (sadness) and my lips are DRY DRY DRY.  I love a matte lipstick but there is no way that I could wear one without getting my lips ready.  Please see below for my product picks to prep your lips for lipstick.  One of these products is actually a 2 in 1-I call it ‘the best of both worlds.’
