Wow-that’s a title isn’t it? It’s actually been years since I’ve used an Urban Decay Product. I don’t suppose there’s any particular reason for it other than the fact that I have all the Naked palettes (minus the Heat one), and don’t have a particular ‘love’ from the brand. I used to be a die hard Primer Potion fan but feel like they have changed the formula, and not for the better. Since I started my new job, I am fortunate to be surrounded by many different ‘options’ when it comes to skincare and makeup. While I was cruising one of the larger Shoppers’ Drug Mart locations, I was walking by and saw the Urban Decay All Nighter Pollution Protection Environmental Defense Setting Spray. The last product I did purchase from UD was the B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray-and I loved it. So many people didn’t care for it but for me, it helped my skin a ton in terms of a moisture boost with brightening. I may purchase that one again and review it, so stay tuned.
Review: Lancôme Énergie De Vie Pearly Lotion
That’s a mouthful isn’t it? Last year, I received a deluxe sample of this from Myles Sexton. It sat in it’s box for several months before I thought-hey it’s winter, I should try this. I am SO glad I did. I flew through the sample (which lasted me several weeks) and purchased a full size recently. Keep reading for my Review: Lancôme Énergie De Vie Pearly Lotion Energizing & Hydrating Facial Essence.
What I’m about to write is NOT meant to sound uppity or snooty. I typically do not use ‘fluffy’ skincare. By ‘fluffy’, I mean products that look pretty and may feel nice but offer little to no results. Many of my skincare items are ‘treatments’ or ‘targeted’ for a certain issue or concern. That leaves out much of the skincare available at the drugstore or department stores, and even Sephora. I spend a lot of time (probably too much time) researching skincare and ingredients and looking at efficacy studies because I care about what goes on my face.
Review: Dior Forever Undercover Foundation
Foundation is a must for me. It’s also a struggle and pain point for me. I wear it ….most days. Due to my tanning ‘habits’ in the 90’s and again in the 2000’s, I have hyperpigmentation on my face. I’m not one of those people that can bounce out of the house with concealer and a skin tint. Not gonna happen. It’s foundation for me. In the summer, I’ll sheer it out and blot like crazy but I’ve still got it on. I haven’t used Dior in a while but wanted to Review the Dior Forever Undercover Foundation after watching a Canadian Beauty Blogger (by the name of Samantha Jane) do a review on this. I had some points accumulated on my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum card so I went for. Note: This Foundation is $$$$, so if you can get a sample (I know I saw thataylaa review this and she got a deluxe sample from Sephora), then get a sample.
scentuals Peppermint Twist 100% Natural Lip Conditioner
Lip Balm, Chapstick, Lip treatment is an ABSOLUTE must for me. I have at least 10 different sticks, pots, tubes going at once….multiples in my purses. My lips have always been on the dry side and since I am a fan of matte lips and liquid lipstick, having my lips hydrated, soft, and flake free is essential. Lately, I’ve been loving the scentuals Peppermint Twist 100% Natural Lip Conditioner that I picked up on a whim at the local Pharmasave in my area.
You should visit….. Eric Del Monaco Hair Studio
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Eric Del Monaco for more than a few years. I met him at one of the first L’Oreal blogger events I attended since starting my blog. Over time, I would see him at events, including one held at his own studio. Since I’ve started working downtown again, I’m fortunate to be able to see Eric at his own studio, conveniently located across the street from my office. You should visit…..Eric Del Monaco Hair Studio.
Avon for Jewelry?
I’m on the fence about Avon. There are some MUST have items -including Skin So Soft (best bug repellent) and the occasional eye cream. In today’s ‘I want it now’ mentality, it can be hard to wait over a week for something to arrive. Going through a representative or consultant seems so 90’s as well (Avon does offer an online option though). After my latest purchase from Avon, I can answer the ‘Avon for Jewelry?’ question with a resounding ‘YES!’-especially if you are a fan of sterling silver jewelry.
#influenster Kat Von D Studded Creme Lipstick
Influenster was kind enough to send me the Kat Von D Studded Creme Lipstick in Lolita to review. A few months back, they also sent me the lip liner (in Lolita as well) and I really enjoyed the liner. While I appreciate everything that I receive to review, I absolutely hated this Lipstick. Before I get to the reason(s) why, I’ll post the brand’s description.
Review: MAC Fix+ Prep & Prime-Lavender
It has been a cold winter in Toronto. I’ve grown accustomed to the fact that winter continues on into what I would typically call ‘spring’ -March. If you have read any of my skincare or makeup posts, you will know that I have oily skin; I’m moving into the ‘mature’ skin category (as defined by the makeup community). During the work week, I have a 20 minute walk from the train station to my office. That’s fine on a mild day, but during these frigid times-it’s a bit daunting. I bundle up and cover my face as much as I can, but some of my face is still exposed to the elements. I find my skin feeling quite parched these days. I wear a ‘full face’ of makeup to work and am not a fan of having to lug all the makeup in for touch-ups (although matte translucent powder and blotting papers are ALWAYS in my bag). What’s really working for me these days is MAC Fix+ Prep & Prime Lavender.
#Influenster Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum-gift idea!
I remember getting this perfume waaaaaaaayyyyyy back when Eaton Centre had a Juicy Couture store. That’s a significant amount of time ago-and I haven’t seen anyone wearing the Juicy Couture tracksuit of yesteryear (that may be a good thing). A big thanks to Influenster for sending me the Viva La Juicy Eau de Parfum.
Holiday Gifting-Cozy gift tote
This isn’t breaking news. I’m not doing a holiday gift guide this year! There are so many reasons for this which I won’t get into here but basically, my budget this year won’t allow for me to be dropping big dollars $$$ on gifts (not that I don’t want to). I’ve recently been doing some volunteer social media/marketing work with my church and the Parish Administrator there recently had a birthday. Instead of getting her a gift card or candy, I decided to put together items that she could use for a ‘cozy’ night in. It is absolutely frigid here in Ontario and I thought she may enjoy and use these! I had a lot of fun wrapping each item and giving a little explanation of why I included the item. I put it all in a tote bag and voila, the Holiday Gifting-Cozy gift tote was born!
