Revive the ‘art’ of watch wearing with Monthly Watch Club

Monthly Watch Club Winter Image

Back in ‘the day’, I wore watches.  Not a ton, but I would wear them.  Over the years, I have acquired and kept several of my favorites.  For the past 2 years, I’ve gone back to my roots and worn Swatch Watches (and will continue to love them dearly).   But honestly, what happened to the ‘art’ of watch-wearing?  I see people walking around with ‘smart’ watches-but to be honest they don’t appeal to me.  I have a ‘fitness’ device that seems to not be so important to me lately (that’s going to change-stay tuned for that), but other than looking at that occasionally for the time, I don’t find myself reaching for my watches so much.  Monthly Watch Club is a subscription service that aims to revive the ‘art’ of watch wearing.  In my opinion, this could truly be the perfect gift idea for so many people on your holiday lists.   I received a watch from Monthly Watch Club and have been enjoying it for several weeks-I’d like to share my thoughts on the idea and the actual product.

OGX Candy Gumdrop Shampoo & Conditioner-worth the hype?

kandee-johnson-ogx

Kandee Johnson is THE OG of Youtube for beauty.  I’ve been following her on social media for so many years, I don’t care to admit it (as it will be easy to determine my exact age).  I wasn’t betting on any of my local stores in the GTA ( greater Toronto area) having her limited edition OGX Shampoo & Conditioners so when I was in the U.S.A. recently, I picked up the OGX Candy Gumdrop Shampoo & Conditioner.  Just in case you didn’t get the ‘gist’ of that last sentence, I paid for these with my own $$$.

Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect top coat-my thoughts

Seche Vive review

Well. I went and did it.  Removed the gel from my nails that I had been wearing on and off (mostly on) for the past 3 years.  It’s gone.  And my nails have been naked now for nearly 3 months.  Gosh when I think of it-it doesn’t even sound like it’s describing me.  For now, its my reality….and I’ve decided I’m going to be okay with it. So what to do in the meantime?  Well I’ve been pairing the Christian Dior Instant French Manicure effect with the Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect top coat and it’s been going swell.

#LetLifeIn-Herbal Essences bio:renew Dry Shampoo white grapefruit & mosa mint review

I received this product for review.

I’ve been a big believer in Dry Shampoo ever since the days of Psssssssst! that used to be for people in the hospital that couldn’t wash their hair.  As I’ve become an adult (or at least I play an adult on a daily basis) I’ve relied heavily on Dry Shampoo to get me through the work-week. I am the proud recipient of fine, oily hair -and if I were to not use Dry Shampoo, I’d be one of those ‘shampoo-daily’ types.  Since I also color my hair, I have learned that a daily wash is NOT for me-my frayed/split ends and incredibly dry hair taught me a lesson.  So I use Dry Shampoo.

#Ageless Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Eye Gel

*I received this product for review

After I hit age 40 (several years ago), I noticed that my undereye area required extra attention.  I used to be able to get away with a moisturizer-the same one that I used on my face.  Now, I notice that if I don’t apply a separate eye product, that my undereye appears incredibly dry and sometimes gets dark.

My main ‘issue’ with eye products is that they are either too rich for daytime use ( I do use a rich eye cream at night) , or not hydrating enough.  Since my skin is combination (with an INCREDIBLY oily T-zone), I don’t want a very rich eye product that is going to interfere with my face and make me look greasy.

Because you (may) want to know…..what I’ve been up to.

I have to say my original ‘goal’ of blogging twice a week has fallen by the wayside.  This is bittersweet to me as I feel like I may be growing out of this blog and may either totally revamp it, start another, or quit blogging all together.  So many sponsored posts with the title ‘Blogs are dead’ keep showing up in my feeds and on my timelines.  I’m wondering if this is universally directed…..don’t get me wrong, I like blogging.  I just think that there are other areas where I want to focus my efforts at the moment (career, lifestyle, family-not in that order).

The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion review

My summer foundation- The Face Shop Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion

*I bought this with my own money*

Finding a foundation in the summer is a seasonal struggle for me.  I have somewhat normal skin, with an incredibly oily T-zone.  Blotting papers are a must.  I want something that covers in that ‘just right’ kind of way-no cakeface, but no ‘hey why is your face all splotchy?’ either.  Any idea how challenging that is?  So while I was in the Face Shop last month (there for blotting papers by the way), I came across this cushion foundation.  I’m ALWAYS skeptical about cushions-because for the most part, they really are for hydration not for high coverage.  But I wanted to see how this Miracle Finish Oil Control Water Cushion worked -as it claims it controls ‘sebum’, which is a fancy and nice word for ‘oily.’  So into my bag it went. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks now and have formed an opinion.  It’s favorable.

Longer, stronger, better. Hair. With Priorin

Will Priorin help your hair grow?

Raise your hand if you’ve taken Biotin before-and NOT been impressed.  Honestly, I wasn’t pleased with Biotin and the other Hair, Skin, Nails vitamins on the drugstore shelves today.  I didn’t see results-even after taking them for several months and I did notice that Biotin caused me to break out.  It’s always been a struggle for me to grow my hair past my shoulders.  After I turned 40, I noticed my hair growth was even slower.  I have had hair extensions before-and while they did solve my length ‘situation’, my hair wasn’t better (or worse) afterwards.  So now, Priorin.  When I got this, I wondered if it would be any different.  Would I notice any sort of change-or would I be using this and then using my spot acne treatments.
