Undereye issues meet their worst enemy with the Eye Perfecting Brush from EcoTools

I’ve had an undereye ‘situation’ since my 20’s (yes over 20 years ago-SIGH).  I’ve tried a lot of things, combinations of products, different tools to apply-and I still have the situation.

I’ve had a moderate amount of success with this new brush from EcoTools and I thought I would take a moment and just sit right there, I‘ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel.…ooops wait, I want to tell you about this brush.

The EcoTools Eye Perfecting Brush reduces the appearance of fine lines or dark circles around eyes.  The brush features uniquely cut, rounded tip bristles that mimics the shape of a finger for easy application under and around the eyes without tugging sensitive skin or transferring oils from the hands.

Designed with straight, firm and dense bristles, the Eye Perfecting Brush allows for optimal bending and coverage to take on fine lines and even the darkest of under eye circles.

Love this brush for almost all of my concealers.  It picks up product well, and distributes it well in some fairly sensitive and particular places around my eyes. The only thing I have not tried it with is my corrector from Becca which is fairly creamy and thick and in my opinion, best applied with fingers.  Some of my other favorite things about this brush are that the bristles are soft, made with bamboo and recycled aluminum and are CRUELTY FREE.  The suggested retail price of $9.99 CAD means my wallet stays happy too.

Have you tried this EcoTools brush? How do you apply your undereye products?

My favorites……from Covergirl!

2 of these products are courtesy of #BeautyUnited! Because I am a part of #BeautyUnited, I will occasionally receive products for review. This will *never* change my opinion of the products but I want to mention it first!

Covergirl hasn’t been on my radar-until lately. I know that other YouTube ‘gurus’ and bloggers have sworn by their products for years.  However, I’ve found several Covergirl products have made their way into my rotation.

This is my latest favorite-and I’d like to thank Stacy (Stacysunnysidemakeup on YouTube) for turning me on to this product.  It’s great on its own but I find that it plays SO well with other mascaras.  I’ve just recently started exploring layering mascaras and this has worked out so well.  It’s not going to make your wallet cry either so I highly suggest that you pick this up.  My only caveat….and it’s minor is that you will NEED an eye makeup remover to take this off as it will not come off with water.  I happen to consider that a positive-raccoon eyes are so not my thing!

Another YouTuber recommendation is the CoverGirl +Olay Eye Rehab 2 in 1 Brightening Concealer and Olay Hydrating serum.  I’ve been having to rely on concealer more heavily more recently (unfortunately).  I have 2 or 3 high end concealers that I swear by but this one stands up to the job as well.  The consistency is a gel/mousse and it DOES NOT CAKE UP.  It applies so well and the shade I have just works so well for my skin tone.  Again, another product that deserves a swatch/purchase.

I can’t specifically thank ONE particular blogger/YouTuber for this purchase because I have watched SO many videos/read so many blogs about this foundation.  Since my skin is going through it’s oily phase this product really does the job.  It’s a long wearing foundation with a natural finish.  I can’t use it without a primer but it does contain one. Coverage is medium and buildable so if you are looking for a full coverage product, you can achieve it.  This product is a bit more expensive than most drugstore foundations but I’ve seen it on promotion and have seen coupons for it more than once.

I’d love to know more about your Covergirl favorites-what should I try?  Tell me in the comments section below.

My favorites from…..the Balm!

There’s NO WAY I could do this series without the Balm.  Although I don’t have a large number of favorites from this brand, there are several stand out products that I think you should know about.

My faves from the Balm

Palettes

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Balm’s palettes and will almost always speak very highly of them.  There is one that isn’t pictured (Meet Matt(e) Nude) that I’d like to give an honorable mention. I’m still learning to use matte shadows properly and while I do like the palette, I haven’t used it enough to include in my favorites!  Moving on, my first favorite palette is Nude Tude. It’s a lovely assortment of neutrals both matte and satin/shimmer finish.  The shadows are soft, buttery and well pigmented-my favorite.

One reason I love the Balm is because they make what I like to call “everything palettes.”  This particular one has practically everything you need for your face included.  The bottom of the palette has some ‘how-tos’ in case you need assistance coming up with a look but honestly, these colors all work wonderfully together. I stuck my finger in ‘Vanilly’, how unfortunate.  Overall this palette is well done with it’s rock and roll theme!

I need a concealer now more than ever and this one from the Balm is awesome.  It’s on the thicker side so go lightly when applying.  The thing I like MOST about this product (and I haven’t heard of any other products that are similar) is that you can actually use this as an eye treatment…..yup, you read correctly.  You can apply this as an eye treatment under your eyes.  While I’m not a fan of having concealer on my eyes while I sleep, if you’re in a pinch or forget your eye cream while travelling, this will come in handy.

Instain Blush

Instain Blush

This is one of my more recent acquisitions-and this particular one is a gift from a fellow YouTuber (Julie-so thank you so much for that). There is a rant below and I want to talk about the product first and give you the opportunity to skip the rant in italics.  I love this product because of the pigment and the staying power.  Period.  My one suggestion to you is that if you are contemplating purchasing these, go and swatch first so you can get an idea of how much is too much and think about your application technique.

I was actually VERY annoyed when I saw these on Emily Noel’s channel as she reviewed them prior to them being released and that they were released MUCH later in Canada.  I hate hate HATE when bloggers and YouTubers talk about products they received but aren’t yet available to the rest of us.  I try to avoid doing that….I’m all about building excitement for a product but this whole blogger/vlogger-on-a-pedestal thing has got to go.  Some of them think they are celebrities!

And there you have it! My favorites from the Balm.  Do you have any favorites from this brand? I bet you do….tell me about them in the comments section below!

How much is too much?

So my bachelorette days are over…..and while I don’t consider myself a slob, I won’t say I kept my living space ‘spic and span’ over the past month!  I am on the fast track to clean at the moment.  So far, I have taken care of the major issues-garbage is picked up and thrown away, sink is shining!
