Things I’m craving lately-you’ll want to read this…..or maybe you won’t!

Disclaimer-I have not purchased any of these items.  YET.  This disclaimer is important.  Read on.

I have been finding myself window shopping on the internet lately.  I open my computer and then before I know it, I have 10 extra tabs open because I just read or learned about this or that and of course I ‘need’ it.  Enter my other half…..he has always says that I just ‘buy things to buy them.’  So I’ve been challenging myself NOT to do that (and for those of you that watch me on YouTube, you’ll notice I have not been on lately. Blame him).  But in the spirit of a true shopper, I’ve decided to list a few items that I’m interested in….and some people I’ve been watching (*cough* obsessed with).  Check it out below and let me know if you like what I’m doing here.  Links are included for every item I MAY purchase so if you are interested, you’re welcome!

Wax on, wax off with Sicilianna Beauty

Raise your hand if you’re sick of wearing your darkest sunglasses & non-descript outfit and driving to the out-of-your-neighborhood nails/wax shop. You know-the one where you walk in and there’s someone at the front table getting their acrylic tips airbrushed? You get your wax done, then you leave with a bright red upper lip and eyebrows? How will you ever explain that away to your spouse/significant/parent/sibling/child?

Let’s face it, waxing and hair removal is a part of life….and while it’s becoming more “normal” to talk about, how do you bring up in everyday conversation that you’re looking for an extra-special-someone to rip your hair out by the roots?

If you’re in the GTA or any other metropolis, there are hundreds of places you could go….from the shop scenario I described above to upscale salons/spas. But you need to feel comfortable-especially if your waxer is going to be in areas that are normally reserved for certain pairs of eyes 🙂

Since I’m getting older, hair removal has moved up on my ‘beauty priority list’ and lately I’ve been noticing this increased hair on my face more and more. I want to feel comfortable and confident wearing my hair up and exposing my hairline. I knew there was only one person for this job…..and it’s Anna.

sicilianna

I’ve known Anna for several years-she is in my ‘blogging circle.’ I actually met her at a blushpretty workshop-I believe it was a contouring one (but correct me if I’m wrong A).  She recently (and I’m not sure how recently) starting offering waxing services/lash extensions out of her very own studio!

anna

Anna is warm, inviting, but most of all professional.  She gave me a thorough once-over and suggested some areas I focus on and I gave her the green light and free reign over my face.  I want the hair gone!  Anna uses hard wax and traditional wax with strips.  The hard wax grabs the more stubborn hair apparently….and that’s what is used more frequently during a Brazilian wax. I did not get a Brazilian, and don’t think I could endure that “procedure”!

Zip, zip, zip and I was through.  Anna applied a soothing aloe product to my skin.  She tidied up my brows for me, which are a constant source of frustration for me.  She even gave me a suggestion and a plan for maintaining my skin post-wax and frequency of future appointments!  While it wasn’t entirely pain free (and it shouldn’t be, after all someone is ripping your hair out of your face by the ROOT), I felt comfortable during the process and put my hair up into a ponytail when I returned home.  YAY!

Do yourself a favor and stay on top of your hair removal-start by finding a person who is qualified and professional like Anna.

P.S. Anna did not ask me to post about her nor did I receive complimentary service.  This is me talking to you about a great esthetician!

Everything’s better in HD! My HD brow treatment at SITAMAA day spa!

I have struggled with my brows for a loooooooong time.  I’ve asked for help with my brows from several makeup counters and even taken a workshop on my brows.  Has that gotten me into a better brow routine? Nope!  The furthest I go with my brows is to pencil them in and hope for the best.

Keeping my brows in check with Annabelle skinny brow liner

I think the universe gets more than a good giggle when it looks at my eyebrows.  They have NEVER been “right” in my eyes.

Over the years I have many many people pluck, tweeze, wax, and thread them into shape….but they have never quite achieved perfection to me.  I have an assortment of tools to help them out:

Unfortunately these tools only work if I USE THEM (*lightbulb*)

Okay so while I WILL leave the shaping to the professionals, I have stumbled upon a product that has helped me on my journey to brow perfection!

Enter Annabelle Skinny Brow liner-an extra precise, retractable AND waterproof brow liner (waterproof? I would never even bother to check if a brow product was waterproof).  Let’s take a peek at this:

On one end, there’s product.  Enough said right?  Well I will mention, this pencil is extremely smooth and soft enough to let you create/fill in those brows but not so tough that your grinding and pulling it along your forehead. I know we have all had that old school eyebrow pencil we love to hate-ADMIT IT!

It’s the other end that really got me interested in this product….check out this pink comb:

I LOVE this because it’s graduated.  So I don’t have to reposition or turn the brush-it’s in the perfect spot the entire time. And

that’s it. A couple of quick strokes and I look like I’m born with beautiful brows!

Simply put, the brush has made me love this product!

P.S. Skinny Brow liner comes in Universal Light, Universal Medium, and Universal Dark shades.

What’s the deal with your brows? How do you keep them in tip top shape?

an eye-raising experience at MYNC!

One of my biggest issues on this face of mine has always been my brows.  I have worked hard to educate myself (taking the High Brow workshop with Miss Donna Marie), purchasing all sorts of brow related products.

Well I got educated when I visited MYNC!
