Let’s give this a go!
Let’s give this a go!
We all know Revlon’s been on ‘the scene’ for awhile now….and for me, this brand had always been around but nothing I was running after anyone for (especially after the lip butters). However, there are several products from Revlon that I do truly adore and thought I’d mention!
If you watch my YouTube channel, you’ll know this is one of the foundations I’ve been going on about. I absolutely love it….the finish, the texture, the application are so easy and flawless. This foundation is a medium to full coverage, and I apply it with my Urban Decay Good Karma brush.
This was one of my first cream blushes. I originally bought it because I wanted to try cream blush but didn’t want to invest in a more expensive one (although I’m quite certain I bought a MAC version around the same time). This color may look intimidating but never fear, its sheer! I like this blush because it’s super blendable and easy to layer with other colors!
I’ll call these my ‘latest loves.’ Back in High School-and I won’t tell you what 4 years that was…..my standard lippie was “Wine with Everything” which is a color that Revlon still makes and I’d still wear. However, I’m not sure if they have reformulated these or what but I am loving everything about these 2. They have great payoff and are soft on the lips. I’m definitely fall-ing for fall colors (GROAN-terrible pun).
So there you have it, my Revlon faves……I know you’ve got some of your own. What are they? Let me know in the comments section below.
This post made possible by the wonderful people at MSL group- #beautyunited!
My blog is mostly beauty oriented but occasionally I’ll venture into the fashion world. I was absolutely delighted to learn that I had won tickets to the first night of the shOws in Toronto on October 9th. This show was held at Andrew Richards designs and I have to say that this was the BEST use of this space that I have ever seen! In case you didn’t know (and I know I didn’t), here’s a little blurb from the website:
“Our aim is to put the spotlight on Canadian Designers, Hair and Makeup Artists and Models and build a property that benefits not only our designers, artists and retailers but also our supportive sponsors, by showcasing the very best of Canadian talent at home and abroad to our media, buyers and stylists.
The purpose of The ShOws is to bring together our most talented and creative Canadian designers each season and allow them to present their collections here in Toronto to the fashion industry without incurring any production costs themselves. We want to support them here at home and give them every possible opportunity to continue to build their brands.”
I was selected to participate in backstage interviews….and I’m sure you have seen it before, but in case you have not, it can be described as ‘beautiful chaos.’ Here’s my point of view:
I was also delighted to attend the Bellavance and Calla fashion shows…..every seat was a good one, and I can now truly appreciate the work that goes into the behind the scenes setup. I also realized that when I attend future fashion shows, I will be bringing my SLR camera in order to capture the models, as well as my digital recorder (although I prefer a notebook and pen! That’s my generation X speaking).
So let’s get to the important stuff-the photos!
The looks:
Bellavance:
-Justin created a ‘shaved head’ appearance by pulling the hair to one side, and braiding it underneath (see photo above) to keep the hair in place. I remember when a ton of my classmates did that for REALS in the 90’s. This look is fresh!
-Amelie used Cover Girl flamed out pencils in a thicker line underneath the eye to “open it up.” The Cover Girl clean whipped makeup foundation was used to keep the face fresh. I’m loving the ‘modern matte’ finish of this particular foundation. Cover Girl Smoochies were used on the lips.
Calla:
Hair & Makeup-Calla:
-Braids, braids, braids everywhere! The string/fabric was woven in-slightly boho-chic!
-Makeup was clean and uncomplicated, but complimenting the hair and clothing.
*Yes these runway looks were achieved using Cover Girl and Pantene products!*
And now, the runway-and I point out (again) this is the main reason for my upcoming shift to a higher grade camera/recording device!
It was a fantastic evening, that’s for sure-I am so grateful to Jennifer, Alyssa and the lovely people at MSL group for giving me the opportunity to attend. Also, huge shout outs to all the designer talent, as well as Justin and Emelie! It was a night to remember!
Look what I did on MY lunch break today!!
L’Oreal Paris sent me this mascara for review….I am not paid to review! My opinion is mine, I own it!
This mascara is a cult favorite for a reason. I won’t say too much about it other than I absolutely loved it. It’s a performance based love:
A great big brush and formula that delivers:
Results? Nothing but gorgeous….
I will be descending upon my local HG drugstores and Walmart scouring the shelves for the waterproof version of this…is there such an item? That’s my only “con” -that it isn’t waterproof!
I purchased this mascara with my own funds and am not compensated to like or hate it!
Wow. Can’t believe I didn’t post about the 2nd week results. I thought that was kind of weird when I saw a lot of photos in my camera. Usually I snap a pic, import and delete!
Yikes! So a mark against me then. I will have to go back and do a post about week 2….which was the carbon black voluminous. geeeeez.
In the meantime, here is week 3 results. I actually threw away the package for this mascara and have no idea what this mascara is called. Either way, I was NOT impressed. L’Oreal, I expected more…..
This is my first waterproof mascara from L’Oreal. My favorite waterproof at the moment is Essence 24h stays no matter what but I won’t get too much into that as I have gone on and on about it already several times. I just didn’t appreciate this mascara.
The packaging is “Classic L’Oreal” and the brush is a bit of the same. I did notice upon first opening the product, that it was a bit clumpy on the brush.
I wanted to like this mascara so much! L’Oreal makes great mascaras, but this is a ‘miss’ for me. Why, you ask?
Well…..
1. Putting it on required a ton of effort for less than stellar results
2. Tons of transfer on my browbone
3. In order to get my lashes the deepest darkest black , I would most likely have to apply the entire tube.
It just wouldn’t apply properly for me-look at that application!
SAD FACE.
Suffice it to say that I do not recommend this mascara, whatever it’s called…..
Next up? Voluminous False Fiber mascara-and I’m not a fan of fiber mascaras either so I’m not expecting this to bode well.
…and yes, since filming, I managed to find my lip polish, another addict gloss and I bought the peach lip polish as well.
Enjoy!
This week was incredibly challenging for me. First full week at a new job and some other ‘daily’ struggles:
Max insisted on being in this video!
So just in case you haven’t already guessed, SPOILER ALERT-I have a new job!!
