Caprina Goats Milk Soap and Hand lotion

*I was sent these products for review-my thoughts are my own! Please be wary when reading blogger reviews-it is NOT a requirement to disclose whether one has received a product for review or not in Canada, but it IS good manners and ethics 🙂 *

Full disclsoure: I didn’t fall down and faint with excitement when this packaged showed up in the mail.  Ho-hum another lotion and soap.  Big deal, right?

Fast forward to almost 2 weeks later… about I tore my bedroom apart because I couldn’t find the lotion?  YES ITS THAT GOOD.  I use it exclusively on my hands right now because I don’t want to waste a drop! I’m sure I don’t have to tell you the skin on the back of your hands is thinner then the rest, and therefore shows age MORE QUICKLY.  It’s important to keep your hands moisturized, hydrated, and nourished.

Caprina body lotion contains Fresh Goat’s Milk (did you know a lot of products that contain Goat’s milk use a powdered version?).  Fresh Goat’s milk is a highly effective skin moisturizer.  Orchid Oil adds extra moisturizing properties to fresh goats milk.

-Helps restore the skin’s natural moisture level

-Non-greasy and absorbs quickly

-Dermatologist tested

-Finished product-not tested on animals

-Paraben free!

Sounds like a winner to me….if the soap is half as good as the lotion, I’ll be thrilled! I don’t doubt it, as it contains shea butter! I’ll keep you posted!

It’s weird-but I love it! Swedish Dream Sea Salt Soap

Bought this one myself people….was browsing a card and gift store close to work, saw it and bought it on impulse.  This is normal for me-the impulse buying, that is.

Soap isn’t my cleanser of choice for everyday but I have come across quite a few soaps that I love (including Aide bodycare, From the Blue House with Love, and Sweet Pea Soap Company).  When I saw this, I thought ….sea salt soap? Really? Is this a thing?  After I bought it I thought, oh boy-what did I get myself into? Is it going to dry my skin out?

So here are some snippets about this soap from the internet…..

Inspired by simple Swedish style, made in America. This fresh-smelling Swedish Dream Sea Salt Soap creates soft suds for bathing or shaving, while embedded salt flakes provide gentle exfoliation. Mineral-rich sea salts are an age-old tonic for softening and moisturizing the skin.

  • Mineral-rich formula.
  • 4.3 ounces.
  • Light, clean scent.
  • Gently exfoliates.
  • See Dimensions + Care for ingredients.
  • Made in the USA

Here’s what’s in this soap:

Sodium palmate, sodium cocoate, sodium palm kernelate, water, glycerin, sea salt, fragrance, titanium dioxide, sodium chloride, polyethylene, pentasodium pentelate, tetrasodium eidronate.

Okay so made in the USA, not Sweden?  Meh? Whaaaa?

I’ll skip all the other fluffy bits and get right to it.  I love this soap!  The embedded salt is great for exfoliation and the scent reminds me of Cape Cod or some quaint little beach town where everyone has a wind chime out front.  I can’t put my finger on the scent and was disappointed to see the ingredients list it as ‘fragrance.’  However, it’s definitely fresh and does remind me of the sea and slightly of salt water taffy (yes, weird).  I use this soap the night before I shave my legs.  The best part about it is that it is absolutely NOT drying.  It doesn’t make my skin tight or itchy either.

So yeah, it’s a bit strange-both the name and the fact that it’s called ‘Swedish soap’ but made in the U.S.A. However, if you are in the market for an exfoliating soap with a pleasant scent I do recommend this. I bought mine at a local shop but you can also buy it here.

I’ve also discovered that they make a seaweed version of this soap as well as a sunflower version.  Hmmm, I may have to try this out!

From the Blue House with Love- Green Tea, Lime & Lemongrass natural, handmade soap.

I am not a fan of soap.

When I think of soap, I think of the bars that were dried up and broken into little pieces in the shower.  I would only use bar soap when I was out of my softly scented, luxurious body wash-and would curse it later as I scratched my itchy post-soap skin.

So when my b-i-l gave me these two bars of soap as a gift, I wasn’t overwhelmed with joy about using them.  He mentioned that he knew the person that made the soap-and that she was local, so I thought I would give them a try.

My 2 lovely soaps "From the Blue House with Love"

The soap that I decided to try was the Green Tea, Lime & Lemongrass. It’s a decent piece of soap with a light fragrance that is quite pleasant!

A huge plus for me is the list of ingredients:

A giant PLUS-I can pronounce the ingredients and know what they are!

So I did use the soap this morning and I was pleased with the results! The soap lathered up nicely and wasn’t heavily fragranced.  It rinsed off easily and didn’t leave my skin dry and itchy.  I like that there are 4 different types of oils in the soap AND essential oils!

I stand corrected-a gift I thought I would never used is now in its own soap dish ready for the morning shower!  Good stuff
