Rimmel Scandaleyes reloaded mascara review-and a twist at the end

*the Scandaleyes mascara(s) were sent to me for review.  The Volume Colourist mascara was purchased by me*

I LOVE MASCARA.  Honestly it’s what keeps me going some days.  When I’m not wearing it (as was the case recently-but that’s another story for another day), people notice, and ask me what’s wrong. Also, I love the ‘action’ of applying it-anyone else do the same?  I actually enjoy applying mascara to my lashes.  So that being said, I was super happy and grateful to receive these Scandaleyes mascaras for review.

My new BFF-Marcelle Instant Eye Makeup remover

*I received this product for review.*

One of my favorite ‘looks’ for my face is what I like to call a ‘heavy lash’ -just very thick, luscious lashes.  In the past, I’ve used lash extensions to achieve this and while pleased with the results, was never happy with the maintenance (combing, brushing, not being able to place eye makeup near them, having to be mindful of sweating too much, etc).  I am a huge fan of mascara and have SO many different types-fiber, tube, curling, volumizing, lengthening, volumizing AND lengthening.

So when you’re like me and you like a LOT of LASH, taking it all off at the end of the day can be a daunting task.  It’s a 2-3 step process that includes multiple products like oils, wipes, creams and a TON of cotton. It’s also a time suck-I am familiar with the 10 minute eye makeup removal process.

Enter in my new BFF from Marcelle-lazy girls, this one’s for you. No more excuses about taking off your makeup at night.  eyemakeupremover

Oh where have you been all my days?  This product WORKS and there’s not much more to say….it is truly instant and I love it.  I’m more than halfway through the bottle and starting to panic.  It doesn’t irritate my eyes, there’s no fragrance.  I hold it over my eye for 10 seconds, then wipe.  That’s it.   Here’s my results after holding a cotton pad over one eye (with the product on the pad):

Can’t say anymore than I have.  I adore this product and will use it and use it and use it.  When I run out, I’ll buy it again.  I suggest you do the same.

The Mascara Project week 3 results L’Oreal Waterproof mascara.WHOAH-I never posted second week results!

I purchased this mascara with my own funds and am not compensated to like or hate it!

Wow. Can’t believe I didn’t post about the 2nd week results.  I thought that was kind of weird when I saw a lot of photos in my camera.  Usually I snap a pic, import and delete!

Yikes!  So a mark against me then.  I will have to go back and do a post about week 2….which was the carbon black voluminous.  geeeeez.

In the meantime, here is week 3 results.  I actually threw away the package for this mascara and have no idea what this mascara is called.  Either way, I was NOT impressed. L’Oreal, I expected more…..

This is my first waterproof mascara from L’Oreal.  My favorite waterproof at the moment is Essence 24h stays no matter what but I won’t get too much into that as I have gone on and on about it already several times.  I just didn’t appreciate this mascara.

The packaging is “Classic L’Oreal” and the brush is a bit of the same.  I did notice upon first opening the product, that it was a bit clumpy on the brush.

I wanted to like this mascara so much! L’Oreal makes great mascaras, but this is a ‘miss’ for me.  Why, you ask?

Well…..

1. Putting it on required a ton of effort for less than stellar results

2.  Tons of transfer on my browbone

3. In order to get my lashes the deepest darkest black , I would most likely have to apply the entire tube.

It just wouldn’t apply properly for me-look at that application!

SAD FACE.

Suffice it to say that I do not recommend this mascara, whatever it’s called…..

Next up?  Voluminous False Fiber mascara-and I’m not a fan of fiber mascaras either so I’m not expecting this to bode well.

I’m gonna soak up the sun……(safely) with Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration!

Oh summer is here!  The patio chairs are outside and people are indulging in fruity after work cocktails and tapas/Hors d’oeuvres. Weekends are for the cottage and straight up lounging!

There’s nothing like being outside in the summer…..but if you’re a fair skinned gal like me, it’s all about the right protection.  Since the Canadian Dermatology Association recommends applying sunscreen every 2 hours, why not use a product that you actually WANT to apply and has added benefits?

Hawaiian tropic is unveiling several *new* products this summer!

Let’s take a look at the products:

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration sunscreen is the first and only sunscreen with hydrating ribbons for continuous moisture! It is infused with silk protein and shea butter.  The sunscreen is waterproof, light and non greasy and smells delicious! Silk Hydration is available in SPF 10, 30, & 50 and offers UVA AND UVB sun protection!

SPF 10 suggested retail $9.99 CAD

SPF 30&50 suggested retail $10.99 CAD

Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect Sunscreen SPF 30 with mica minerals enhances your skin tone while providing broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection!

SPF 30 suggested retail $10.99 CAD

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch SPF 85 Sunscreen is a photostable lotion that provides UVA and UVB protection.  It offers a lightweight feel, is waterproof AND oil free!

SPF 85 suggested retail $11.99 CAD

I knew that I liked using these products already so I ventured out into my network to find some ‘testers.’  Here are their thoughts on Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen products.

The beauty: Liz

The product:  Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect SPF 30 over the holiday weekend at the cottage!

Her Thoughts:

“Hawaiian Tropics Shimmer Effect sunscreen is great! It gives me that shiny beachy look that makes me feel like I am glowing!  The only downside is that the sparkles get everywhere!”

*I have to agree about the shimmer/sparkles-but since I am in love with shimmer, I don’t consider it a downside.  However, my other half seems to be annoyed that the shimmer is on his recently stained wooden patio chairs.  Personally, I think it enhances the chairs 😉

The Guinea Pig:  Brandon

The product:  Hawaiian Tropic SPF 85 Sunscreen Lotion and sunning on the condo balcony!

His Thoughts:

“This product is great because it’s light-not thick or sticky.  I like that it’s oil free and doesn’t have that sunscreen smell.”

The fairest:  Me!

The product: Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30 Silk Hydration- daily user because I have to function in the city!

My Thoughts:

“Since the first application of this, I have been using it as a lotion.  I apply it after my shower in the morning and take it with me to reapply-especially if I plan on being outside at all during the day.  The texture is great-it’s not that typical sticky, thick sunscreen.  This applies like a lotion and smells like the beach!  This product has made its way into my daily rotation!”

Applying sunscreen isn’t a chore-it’s a necessity!  Why not use a product that applies like a lotion and offers protection against UVA/UVB? Take care of your skin-it’s the largest organ you have!

What’s your sunscreen routine?
